Hana Soukupová was born in Karlovy Vary, Czech Republic. Because of her height, she played basketball for the local Czech team from the age of 5. Soukupová began to work as a model in Prague when she was 14. She signed her first major modeling contract at 15 years of age as the face of Carolina Herrera’s Chic perfume moving to Paris. She later returned home to host the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival along with Andy Garcia and Vaclav Klaus, the President of the country.
In September 2004, Hana was selected as one of only nine models to appear on the cover of American Vogue in an issue that compared supermodels today to supermodels of the 80s and 90s heydays. Others included Daria Werbowy, Natalia Vodianova, Gisele Bündchen, and Karolína Kurková. Vanity Fair touted her as the next Eastern European model to make it big. Soukupová has been featured on over 100 magazines covers including numerous international editions of Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar, W Magazine, Elle, Allure and Marie Claire. Soukupová’s work can be seen in over 5,000 pages of editorial fashion stories and advertising campaigns.
Hana has worked closely with renowned photographers Steven Meisel, Nick Knight, Peter Lindbergh, Annie Leibovitz, Mikael Jansson, Craig McDean, Mert & Marcus, Mario Sorrenti, Steven Klein, Arthur Elgort, Mario Testino and Patrick Demarchelier.
Soukupová has walked in over 500 runway shows including opening and closing shows for fashion icons Alexander McQueen, John Galliano, YSL, Donna Karan, Zac Posen, Gucci, Dior, Calvin Klein, Karl Lagerfeld, Dolce & Gabbana, Proenza Schouler, Valentino and Versace in 2017.
Soukupová’s other runway credits include Chanel, Marc Jacobs, Louis Vuitton, Ralph Lauren, Balenciaga, Valentino, Fendi, Chloé, Anna Sui, Hermes and Victoria’s Secret.
Soukupová shot her first international television commercial in 2010 winning a CLIO award for Mattoni, a luxury bottled water company in Eastern Europe. Soukupová has acted in several small independent films.
She has been the face of Gucci, Escada, Dior, Versace, St. John, Balenciaga, Carolina Herrera, Zara, Max Mara, BVLGARI and GAP.
Soukupová is dedicated member of The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. Hana is an active supporter of DKMS leading the fight against Blood Cancer. Hana is involved in numerous international organizations related to the support of contemporary art. In addition, Hana has maintained an active role with EcoStyle, an international organization dedicated to environmentally friendly fashion which showcase eco-conscious and sustainable design innovations.
Hana married Drew Aaron in 2006. Soukupová resides in the New York & Spain with her husband and their two children Finn and Ella.
